Street-smart art

Michael Lau is a leading Hong Kong street artist whose successful collaborations with leading brands such as Nike, Sony and Diesel have earned him household name status.

Combining elements of music, fashion, pop culture, art, sports and street style, Lau's action figures from the 'Gardener' and 'Crazy Children' series have won numerous awards from leading local and overseas art organizations. In addition to Hong Kong, Tokyo and Taipei, his 'Gardener' exhibition has been successfully showcased in Paris, London, and most recently, Beijing. Lau's 'Mr. Shoe Shop' one-man show has also been widely exhibited both here in Asia and overseas. Having pioneered the trend since the early 1990s, Lau is also frequently called the 'Godfather of urban vinyl' and was recognized as such in a January 2008 Forbes article entitled, '20 Trends Sweeping the Globe'. His other accolades include designing uniforms and footwear for China's BMX team at the Beijing Olympics.
