Translating local appeal into global success

In the world of comic illustration it is notoriously difficult to pull off the tricky balancing act of being both commercially successful and critically acclaimed. It is even tougher to translate locally-relevant insights into globally appealing truths. A regular contributor to best-selling Hong Kong papers and magazines such as "East Touch" weekly magazine and "Jet" monthly magazine. Over the years, the artist has added to his adoring audience by producing several high-profile individual cartoon collections. His key works in this area include How blue was the valley and Biu Tung Wa Jap. Yeung’s global stature is such that he is also a regular participant at major international cartoon exhibitions such as Switzerland’s Fumetto Comix Festival, Italy’s Bologna Bilbolbul and France’s Bd. à Bastia.
