Kai-Yin is internationally recognized as a pioneer for bringing a contemporary style to traditional Chinese jewelry and accessories and for elevating semi-precious stones into a mainstay in jewelry design, thus "ushering in a new design direction", wrote Suzy Menkes of the International Herald Tribune.

Kai-Yin is the recipient of the Hong Kong Design Centre's prestigious international award, "World's Outstanding Chinese Designer, 2007", as well as a Silver Bauhinia Star from Hong Kong SAR Government in recognition of her contribution to design and for being of the first international brands from Asia.

Kai-Yin shared kudos with Cartier at the "New China Chic" exhibition at the Kennedy Centre, Washington DC, 2005 and was accorded a retrospective show at Wako, Tokyo's leading store, in 2008.

A student of history at Cambridge and London Universities and Harvard Business School, Kai-Yin has organised business and cultural forums and exhibitions including the 1992 Landmark Exhibition of Chinese artist Wu Guanzhong at the British Museum, She is the Chief Curator of the Hong Kong official Design Exhibition at Shanghai Expo, 2010 "Hong Kong: Creative Ecologies".

The annual Kai-Yin Lo Lecture at Asia Society, New York is a significant platform of cultural exchange. She serves as Visiting Professor including at the Academy of Art and Design, Tsinghua University, Asia Pacific Art Acquisition Committee, Tate Modern and the Advisory Council of Museum of Art and Design, New York.

Kai-Yin has edited four well-regarded books ranging from Chinese ceramics to furniture to architecture and the vernacular living environment. Her last, "House, Home, Family: Living and Being Chinese" has been selected as one of "Fifteen Greatest Books for Understanding China" by the Association of Museum Curators, USA.

2007年，罗啓妍女士荣获了香港设计中心颁发的著名国际奖项"世界杰出华人设计师"，是对其作爲亚洲拥有国际地位的首批品牌的认可。 香港特别行政区政府也授予她银紫荆星章， 表彰其爲创意産业做出的贡献。

罗女士的珠宝饰物设计将中国文化融入神韵及精髓的光驱，开创了顔色宝石成爲珠宝设计的主流。 正如"国际先锋论坛"International Herald Tribune权威时装编辑Suzy Menkes所言， 罗氏建立了"新价值观"。

罗女士曾就读康桥及伦敦大学的历史系和哈佛大学的工商学院。 被华尔街日报誉爲"文艺复兴型的人物"。 致力于推动文化、艺术和创意産业的发展，作出推进活动。1992年在大英博物馆举办的华人艺术家吴冠中标志展，她也是2010上海世博会香港设计展"香港： 创意生态"的总策展人。

罗女士经常出席一些重要的学术、文化和商业论坛。 她是清华大学艺术设计学院的客座教授， 英国圣马丁艺术学校特邀演讲嘉宾。 她也是英国泰特当代美术馆亚太收藏会委员、 纽约美术/设计博物馆国际委员会委员， 等等。

罗啓妍女士还编写过四本中国文化书籍， 其中《家屋、家具、家庭 — 中国人的居住文化》的英文版被美国博物馆策划人协会列爲"十五本最能增加瞭解中国的书"之一。
